Things to note when installing WPC decking
Wood plastic WPC decking are becoming more and more popular in outdoor decoration due to their beauty, durability and easy maintenance. In order to ensure the installation effect and the service life of the wood plastic deck, Yongte Plastic Machinery will introduce the precautions during installation in detail.
Preparation
- **Material inspection**: Carefully check the quality of the wood plastic deck to see if there are any cracks, deformations, color differences, etc. At the same time, ensure that the supporting keels, screws, glue and other materials are complete and meet the installation requirements.
- **Tool preparation**: Prepare installation tools such as electric saws, electric drills, screwdrivers, hammers, tape measures, squares, and levels to ensure that the tools are intact and can be used normally.
- **Site cleaning**: Before installation, clean the installation area to ensure that the ground is flat, dry, and free of debris. If there are uneven areas, they need to be leveled.
### Keel installation
- **Keel selection**: Choose keels with good quality and strong anti-corrosion performance. The specifications of the keel should be determined according to the size and use environment of the wood plastic deck, and the general spacing is between 30-60 cm.
- **Keel fixing**: Use expansion screws or special keel fixings to firmly fix the keel to the ground or foundation structure, ensure the horizontality and verticality of the keel, and the spacing between adjacent keels should be uniform and consistent.
### Deck installation
- **Expansion joints reserved**: WPC decks will have certain expansion and contraction changes under different temperature and humidity conditions, so appropriate expansion joints should be reserved during installation. Generally speaking, the gap between boards is about 3-5 mm, and 8-10 mm of expansion space should be reserved near the wall or other obstacles.
- **Installation direction**: Determine the installation direction of the deck according to design requirements and actual use. Generally speaking, installing along the light or main line of sight can make the deck look more beautiful.
- **Screw fixing**: Use special WPC screws to fix the deck to the keel. The spacing of the screws should be uniform, generally about 20-30 cm. The screws should be screwed in vertically to avoid tilting, so as not to affect the fixing effect and aesthetics.
- **Avoid damage**: During the installation process, be careful to avoid using sharp tools to scratch the deck surface, and be careful to avoid heavy objects hitting the deck to avoid dents or damage.
### Finishing work
- **Edge treatment**: After the installation is completed, grind the edges and corners of the deck to make it smooth and burr-free to avoid scratching the human body. You can use sandpaper or a grinder for grinding. Pay attention to the uniform grinding force to avoid deformation of the edges and corners.
- **Cleaning and maintenance**: Wipe the surface of the deck with a clean damp cloth to remove dust and stains left during the installation process. At the same time, check the installation of the deck. If there are problems such as loose screws or large gaps, adjust and repair them in time.
