Yongte Successfully Completes Commissioning of WPC Column Co-extrusion Production Line
Yongte has reached a significant technical milestone by successfully completing the trial commissioning of its newly upgraded WPC (Wood-Plastic Composite) Column co-extrusion production line. Following three rounds of systematic trial runs and focused technical refinements, the line now runs steadily and continuously, producing WPC Columns with consistent dimensional precision and uniform product quality, signifying the full maturity of the company’s advanced co-extrusion manufacturing technology for WPC profiles.
WPC Column co-extrusion molding has always been a high-difficulty process in the wood-plastic profile industry, featuring complex material characteristics and rigorous molding requirements. Different from ordinary single-layer extrusion, co-extrusion technology needs to realize the synchronous compound molding of two different formula materials, which puts forward extremely high requirements on mold flow channel design, material flow balance and equipment operation coordination. First, WPC materials are mixed with wood powder, plastic and additives, with poor fluidity and unstable melt uniformity, which easily leads to inconsistent material output on both sides of the mold. Second, the co-extrusion flow channel needs to realize uniform wrapping and lamination of the surface layer and base material. Any unreasonable flow channel structure will cause partial material shortage and incomplete cladding of profiles. In addition, subtle differences in melt pressure and flow rate during extrusion will directly result in uneven wall thickness of finished products, seriously affecting the straightness, dimensional accuracy and overall appearance quality of WPC Columns. These technical pain points are the key difficulties restricting the stable mass production of high-quality co-extrusion WPC profiles.
The whole commissioning process was carried out rigorously in accordance with standardized production and debugging specifications. The technical team conducted phased trial tests to verify the line’s operational stability, co-extrusion molding performance and finished product quality.
During the first trial run, the production line maintained stable operation for conventional non-co-extrusion WPC products with qualified molding effects. However, obvious technical defects emerged when switching to co-extrusion production: incomplete cladding occurred on one side of the finished profiles. After on-site inspection and professional analysis, Yongte’s engineers confirmed that the problem stemmed from unreasonable structural design of the mold co-extrusion flow channel, which caused uneven material flow during co-extrusion molding. The technical team immediately carried out precise trimming and optimization on the mold flow channel structure to adjust material feeding and flow distribution status.
In the second trial commissioning, the optimized mold basically solved the incomplete cladding issue. Nevertheless, a new problem of uneven wall thickness appeared on the co-extruded products, with one side thick and the other side thin, failing to meet the standard dimensional tolerance requirements. To eliminate the quality deviation fundamentally, the engineering team performed secondary fine modification and precision calibration on the mold flow channel, further optimizing the material flow rate and pressure balance of the co-extrusion system.
In the third formal trial run, the fully optimized co-extrusion production line operated smoothly throughout the whole process. The equipment feeding, extrusion molding and shaping cooling procedures were highly coordinated. The finished WPC Columns featured uniform wall thickness, standard overall dimensions, smooth surface and stable molding quality, fully meeting mass production and high-standard market delivery requirements. All key technical indicators have reached the industry advanced level.
The successful commissioning of the new WPC co-extrusion production line fully demonstrates Yongte’s strong independent R&D capability and precise mold debugging technology in the field of wood-plastic equipment. It effectively improves the production precision and product competitiveness of high-end co-extrusion WPC products, lays a solid foundation for the company to expand the high-end WPC profile market, and provides more reliable and high-quality production solutions for domestic and foreign customers.
