Yongte Custom Plastic Waste Recycling & Upcycling Solution for African Client

Plastic waste pollution has become a pressing environmental challenge across many African regions, while the demand for affordable, durable plastic products (such as household basins, stools, and daily necessities) remains high. Confronted with this dual challenge, our African client sought a sustainable solution that could turn local plastic waste into marketable goods, addressing both environmental issues and economic needs.

After a thorough evaluation of the local waste composition, production requirements, and market demand, Yongte tailored a complete plastic waste recycling and upcycling system for the client.

Customized Solution Overview

The turnkey solution we designed combines plastic waste recycling and extrusion with plastic product molding, creating a closed-loop, "waste-to-product" production line.

2.1Step 1: Plastic Waste Recycling & Regeneration

The core of the solution is a high-efficiency, double-screw plastic recycling extrusion machine, specifically engineered to process the diverse post-consumer plastic waste streams commonly found in Africa. This specially designed twin-screw extruder can directly process plastic waste—without requiring prior size reduction into small fragments. Its innovative design simplifies the plastic recycling process and significantly improves processing efficiency by enabling direct extrusion of intact plastic materials, thereby eliminating the cleaning, crushing, and drying steps required in conventional methods. This technological advancement is poised to transform the plastic recycling industry—reducing energy consumption and operational costs while supporting more environmentally sustainable waste management practices.

Raw Material Handling: The system accepts various types of waste plastics, including woven bags, agricultural films, packaging bags, and HDPE/PP rigid waste.

High-Efficiency Extrusion:

The robust extruder, driven by a high-torque motor and gearbox, melts and homogenizes the waste plastic.

The degassing system removes moisture and volatile impurities from the melt, ensuring the quality of the recycled material.

Output: Consistent, high-quality recycled HDPE/PP melted material, ready to be used directly in the next production phase.

2.2Step 2: Recycled Plastic Molding into Finished Products

The second stage of the solution is a four-column hydraulic press molding system, which converts the recycled pellets directly into high-demand consumer goods.

Direct Molding Technology: The melted plastic are fed into molds under high pressure and temperature, forming products in a single cycle. This direct process eliminates the need for intermediate steps, reducing energy use and production costs.

Versatile Production: The system is configured with interchangeable molds to produce a range of popular items: such as: Large-capacity household basins/tanks/buckets for water storage and domestic use. Durable plastic stools for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Key Advantages:

Market-Aligned Products: The output perfectly matches the local demand for low-cost, long-lasting household items.

Robust & Low-Maintenance: The hydraulic press is designed for 24/7 operation in tough conditions, with simple controls that are easy for local operators to learn and maintain.

On-Site Implementation & Operation

Our team provided full-cycle support, from factory layout design, equipment installation, and commissioning, to on-site training for local operators. The line was put into production on schedule, with workers able to independently operate the equipment to sort, process waste plastics, and produce finished goods.

The full production workflow is as follows:

Waste Collection & Sorting: Post-consumer plastic waste is collected and sorted locally.

Recycling & Extrusion: The Yongte recycling extruder processes the waste into uniform melted and plasticized material.

Molding & Finishing: The hydraulic press forms the melted plastic into finished products, which are then trimmed and prepared for sale.

Client Achievements & Market Impact

Since the line went into operation, the solution has delivered remarkable results:

Environmental Impact: The facility processes tons of plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills or waterways, significantly reducing local plastic pollution.

Economic Benefits: The recycled plastic products, including household basins and stools, are well-received in the local market for their durability and affordable price, creating a profitable circular economy model.

Social Value: The project has created new jobs in waste collection, production, and sales, contributing to local employment and sustainable development.

The success of this project has also set a benchmark for plastic waste recycling in the region, attracting attention from other local entrepreneurs and demonstrating the viability of turning waste into wealth.
